Looking for Deep Ellum apartments in Dallas?
Deep Ellum is a colorful place.
Once home to gin joints and pool halls, this East Dallas neighborhood has undergone gentrification, evolving into live music venues and pricey urban lofts. But anyone thinking of moving to Deep Ellum should take note: this East Dallas neighborhood still has an edge, with more than its share of throbbing nightclubs and dark alleyways. Anyone comfortable living next to hookah bars and tattoo parlors will feel right at home.
Deep Ellum, short for "deep Elm Street," is an arts/entertainment district near downtown Dallas. It is bordered by I-45/75 on the west; Fair Park on the east; the neighborhood is north of Exposition Park and south of Bryan Place. Pacific, Elm, Main, Commerce and Canton streets run right through the heart of the neighborhood.
Adam Hats Lofts is one example of the type of urban living distinctive to the area. Actually a revitalized industrial building, Adam Hats combines modern lofts with old warehouse charm. With neighboring views of downtown Dallas, Deep Ellum and Fair Park, every loft at Adam Hats is unique. The building has a rooftop patio, an urban garden, a resort-style pool, and (requisite for Deep Ellum) garage parking.
Restaurants include AllGood Cafe, Murray Street Coffee Shop, Cafe Brazil, Twisted Root, and Cowboy Chow... all pretty much explained by their names. According to the Dallas Morning News, visitors can also find "guerrilla chefs" on the weekends, set up in various parking lots, serving barbecue and hot dogs.
Legend has it, Deep Ellum is the place where Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain got punched in the face by a bouncer.
