Buckingham is a portion of Dallas that was at one time an independent city though Buckingham is now simply a neighborhood which is part of Dallas. Like many cities in the area Buckingham was originally incorporated in the 1950s and as more and more people began to move to the Dallas area the city began to grow quite rapidly. Through the years Buckingham became quite a large city and as a result many companies and industries began to move to the area. It wasn’t until 1996 that the city of Buckingham was annexed by the nearby city of Richardson which is completely surrounded by Dallas itself.
Buckingham has a unique history compared to many neighborhood areas in Dallas. Buckingham did originally start out as a town but a group of developers soon tried to turn the area into numerous apartment complexes and upscale rental properties. Unfortunately this business venture failed due to a lack of funding and this is why the city itself eventually started to fail. Of course thousands of residents remained in the area but when the corporate development of Buckingham failed it was inevitable that Buckingham would eventually become part of another city, Richardson was the only likely option.
Currently the Buckingham neighborhood is quite nice and very popular as a suburban Dallas neighborhood. There are dozens of apartment options available in Buckingham that give residents basically an unlimited number of options in terms of location, size and amenities. Buckingham is also close enough to most parts of Dallas that commuting to work is quite easy for most residents. Buckingham also offers quick and convenient access to a variety of shopping and entertainment centers that aren't more than 15 or 20 minutes away in most cases. Buckingham really is a conveniently located suburban neighborhood that offers a great mix of convenience while still being outside of the city enough to avoid much of the congestion and traffic. If you want to get out of the downtown Dallas area while still being able to commute to Dallas each and every day then the Buckingham neighborhood is a great selection; if you need something a little more convenient and a little bit closer then obviously you should look at something that is much closer to downtown Dallas. Either way, Buckingham is a great neighborhood that offers everything most residents want in a suburban neighborhood.
