Windcrest Texas is located within the San Antonio metropolitan area but thanks to the size and population it is considered to be an independent city. Windcrest had approximately 5000 residents as of the 2000 election and as the demand for housing in and around San Antonio increased the population has continued to grow substantially. Many residents are drawn to Windcrest due to the quick access to San Antonio as well as the suburban feel presented by the somewhat disconnected city. Overall Windcrest is a very popular suburb of greater San Antonio that has continued growing substantial for the past few years; as more people move to the area it seems to only be getting more popular as well so obviously something has been drawing people to the area.
Overall Windcrest is a fairly typical town in that they have all of the standard programs and operations. Windcrest has multiple public schools and public parks and thanks to the fact that it is a suburban town there are multiple other towns located immediately adjacent to Windcrest. Depending on where you decide to live in Windcrest there are multiple public schools that children may be assigned to but no matter where you live it will never take more than a few short minutes to make it to downtown San Antonio. There are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities immediately within Windcrest as well thanks to the fact that multiple shopping centers were built in order to cater especially to the residents of Windcrest.
Perhaps the most unique thing about Windcrest is the amazing Christmas celebration put on by the city. Windcrest is commonly known as the city of lights thanks to the amazing Christmas decorations put out by the city and nearly all of the residents and as such the city tries to keep expanding and improving each and every year. Thousands of people visit Windcrest each winter specifically to see the incredible lights as well so unlike many suburbs Windcrest really does have something unique going for it. If you are interested a unique and exciting suburban town with some rich tradition and exceptional access to any part of San Antonio then you should definitely consider the Wincrest area. It is a short drive from San Antonio which means it is more than close enough to commute but at the same time most residents are happy to know that they are in fact separated from the city somewhat.
