Looking for apartments in apartments in Sachse, TX?
The City of Sachse, 20 miles northeast of downtown Dallas, still has a population barely more than 19,000, but that won't last long. With the expansion of the North Dallas telecom corridor and the 190 President George Bush Turnpike extending through the southern part of the city, Sachse is a rural suburb just waiting to be discovered. According to the local chamber of commerce, most "residential, retail and commercial businesses are beginning to develop along Highway 78 [which bisects the city]." But city officials and the business professionals are hopeful that restaurants and retail establishments will develop along 190.
Apartment choices are slim, but for renters wanting lots of green space and open air, Sachse is a well-kept secret.
The city of Sachse lies within two different counties, Dallas and Collin. Depending on which side of the county they live in, school-aged Sachse residents may attend either Garland or Wylie schools. The Garland School District has open enrollment campuses, meaning that a student may attend any Garland school of their choice as long as they have transportation. By contrast, Wylie school district has designated boundaries.
Just up the road in Parker, Texas, visitors can tour the iconic Southfork Ranch, home of the 1980s TV show Dallas. (Yes, it still exists, but don't expect to find J.R. Ewing living there. Formally a private residence, it's now a resort and conference center.)
With easy commutes and an average annual temperature 66 degrees, the hardest part about living in Sachse is pronouncing the name.
