Midlothian is located at the heart of Ellis County which was established in 1849. Settlers began arriving in 1840 where they lived as hunters and farmers. They were heavily influenced by the local Native American tribes who they learned from and traded with. The incoming railroads gave way to the official incorporation of Midlothian in April of 1888. From then, this city grew to become an industrial resource that was influential during WWII and beyond.
Midlothian is a micro-suburb of Dallas with surrounding cities including Waxahachie, Mansfield, Cedar Hill, Red Oak, Lancaster, and Desoto. It is only 26 miles south of Dallas and 27 miles southeast of Fort Worth. A short drive to interstate highway 35 gives residents quick access to the rest of the Dallas/Fort Worth region.
