Spanish for "the hills," Las Colinas is a 12,000-acre, master-planned community known as the second busiest downtown outside of Dallas. Water Street is one of the recent multi-family developments planned for downtown Las Colinas, near the intersection of O'Connor and Las Colinas Boulevards. The first phase will include 175,000 square feet of retail, 32,000 square feet of office space, a hotel with 110 guest rooms, 36 condos, 390 multi-family residential units, and a parking garage with 875 spaces. Phase two calls for another 420 apartments. Some amenities include tree-lined streets, granite sidewalks, lakes, canals, cafes, "eclectic boutiques and urban energy." The first phase should be completed Fall 2012.
Las Colinas has 20 hotels, with more than 4,000 rooms.
Each year, Las Colinas hosts The HP Byron Nelson Championship, the most financially successful charity event on the PGA TOUR, raising over $116 million for children and families.
