Burleson has had more than a few brushes with fame. Legendary Wild West outlaw, Sam Bass, robbed trains just outside Burleson. Robert Anderson, a member of Eisenhower's staff, was born in Burleson. And more recently, American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson was born in Burleson. Clarkson has gone on to sell more than 10 million records as a pop superstar.
The city of Burleson is growing rapidly. In 2000 the population was just north of 20,000, and in 2011 the population is more than 35,000.
