Twenty-two miles from Houston, Baytown, Texas, located at the mouth of the San Jacinto River on Galveston Bay, is the city where "oil and water really do mix."

Built in 1988, the venue accommodates 30,000 fans and includes a high-banked, dirt, oval race track that hosts races each year from March through October. The dragstrip has a three-story tower that incorporates 23 VIP suites, a media center, and race control facilities equipped scoring equipment.

Baytown boasts some of the largest oil refineries in the world, and has many jobs supporting petroleum and petrochemical processing. Anchors of the business community are Exxon Mobile, Bayer, and Chevron Phillips.

Baytown is served by Lee College, a two-year junior college. According to its website, Lee ranks "sixth in nation for degrees awarded in science and technologies." Is also home to the 2009 National Championship NJCAA Division I Tennis Team and the Exxon Mobil Process Technology Program.

Baytown is served by the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District. Based in Baytown, the district has 14 elementary schools (grades K-5), 5 junior highs (grades 6-8), 3 high schools, a career center, and two alternative centers for education.

According to the chamber of commerce, "Baytown has a total of more than 25,0000 housing units and 50 apartment and town home complexes with a wide range of rental fees. The city has a population density of 2,400 people per square mile."
