The Milwood neighborhood is just a few miles to the north of downtown Austin but those few miles are more than enough to separate the big city from this somewhat suburban neighborhood. Milwood is a primarily residential neighborhood so there isn't a whole lot of traffic or businesses in most of the neighborhood though there are plenty of shopping centers and restaurants within a mile or two so the convenience factor is still there. Milwood is a relatively large neighborhood with over one thousand homes but thanks to the amount of land occupied by Milwood the neighborhood does not seem cramped or overcrowded in any way. There are even multiple outdoor play areas or parks nearby that keep children and adults entertained thanks to walking trails and other great attractions; these are definitely worth checking out if you are considering moving to the Milwood neighborhood area of Austin.

Like many large neighborhoods Milwood does have an official neighborhood association; the Milwood Neighborhood Association is that group and they control a number of things. The primary goal of the association is to monitor the neighborhood while also working to improve the neighborhood as well as the quality of life in the neighborhood. Obviously the primary way this is accomplished is through community projects and programs, many of which are family or kid oriented. Of course it is not surprising to find that a majority of the Milwood neighborhood is occupied by families with children there are multiple schools within a few miles. Depending on which portion of the Milwood neighborhood you look at there are a variety of elementary schools and middle schools that local students are divided between.

Overall Milwood is a very quaint neighborhood outside of Austin that offers some unmatched privacy and seclusion while still being well within driving distance of Austin. Most other neighborhoods that are located this close to Austin experience some of the traffic and congestion that you would find downtown but due to the location and design of the Milwood neighborhood nearly all of this is avoided entirely. Besides the location many people simply like Milwood because it is a family oriented neighborhood. The neighborhood association puts on 10 or more activities or events throughout the year to keep the community engaged and together which is also something unique to the neighborhood.
