McKinney Avenue Information
Looking for McKinney Avenue apartments in Dallas?
McKinney Avenue is the main street of the Uptown District of Dallas, TX. However, it has become such a main attraction that many just refer to the street itself as a separate community. McKinney Avenue is well-known as the best place in downtown Dallas to find it all: bars, spas, restaurants, hotels, and even art galleries. The area is characterized by sidewalk cafes, boutique shopping, and lively night spots.
McKinney Avenue is more than 100 years old and hasn't always been known as such a "happening" place. However, McKinney Avenue has become such a well-known tourist attraction that the McKinney Avenue Trolley's sole purpose is to transport, at no charge, residents and visitors to McKinney Avenue from uptown to downtown with ease. The trolley is a heritage streetcar that runs down McKinney Avenue and terminates near the Dallas Museum of Art.
There are a few things that residents and visitors alike enjoy taking part in when in the McKinney Avenue neighborhood. Frankie's Sports Bar is a big hit among the younger crowd and has been voted the number one sports, outdoor, and neighborhood bar in the area. The Dallas Morning News has even labeled it as a favorite McKinney Avenue hangout spot. The McKinney Avenue Antique Market is a big attraction for those residents looking for unique shopping experiences. The market offers furniture and deco pieces as well as books and linens. For those residents looking for more mainstream, trendy items, Forty Five Ten has over 8,000 square feet of jewelry and designer clothes. The largest area for shopping on McKinney Avenue is in the West Village.
