How it Works

UMoveFree is a real estate company that specializes in helping renters find apartments for lease. We do not own or manage apartments but we do maintain relationships with nearly every apartment community in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Renters tell us what type of apartment they are looking for and we send them a list of apartments that match their preferences. We are paid a referral fee when our client leases their new apartment and lists "UMoveFree" as their apartment locating service. UMoveFree uses a portion of that fee to provide every renter a cash back rebate.

General Questions

How can this service help me find an off-campus apartment?

UMoveFree is a free apartment finding service that helps renters find apartments in the Arlington area. Our service is free because we are paid by the apartment communities that we work with. The University of Texas at Arlington contacted us to help UTA students find off-campus apartments.

How do I start my off-campus apartment search?

Just complete the short form at the top of this page, or you can call us, text us or email us using the information at the top of the page. One of our apartment finding experts will contact you within hours to start your apartment search.

Do I lease the apartment I find from you?

No. We do not own or manage the apartments that we will share with you. All off-campus apartments near UTA are independently owned and managed. When you find an apartment you like, you will submit a rental application directly to the firms that own or manage that apartment. We maintain a list of every off-campus apartment and we can help you with this process.

Can you guarantee me an off-campus apartment that matches my location and pricing preferences?

No. We do not own or operate the apartments near UTA but we do have relationships with nearly every off-campus apartment near campus. What we can do is tell you what is and is not available. If an apartment is available that matches your preferences we'll find it and we will email the information to you. However, these off-campus apartments are leasing quickly so we simply cannot guarantee that every student will find an apartment that meets their preferences.

Can I lease any off-campus apartment that I want?

Yes, you can lease at any off-campus apartment you want regardless of whether or not you find the apartment through our service. However, we encourage you to speak with one of our agents before you lease. Not only do we know every apartment that is available near campus, but we also know where the UTA bus stop locations will be and other details that will aid in your apartment search. Also, our apartment agents specialize in helping renters find apartments for rent so you will benefit from their expertise and free assistance. Just complete the short form at the top of this page or you can call, text or email us to get your apartment search started.

What does my rent installment include?

All properties are different. Some include all utilities, such as cable, Internet, water, trash, and electricity, where others do not. We can help you find the property that best suits your needs.

What amenities do the properties provide?

As we do not own or operate the properties, they do not offer the same amenities, but we can help you find the properties that fits your needs, such as parking and a fitness center.

Finding an Apartment with UMoveFree

What information do I need to provide you to start my apartment search?

We will need your name and contact information, as well as your apartment search preferences. Please also include the maximum rent per month you can pay for an off-campus apartment. We will use this information to send you a list of the apartments that match your preferences. However, you will need to provide the apartment you decide to lease more information during the application process.

What will my UMoveFree apartment agent do with this information?

Your agent will take your information and use it to find the communities that best meet your needs near campus. Once they have your list ready they will send the list to you by email and call you to discuss which apartment is right for you.

Will you move everything for free?

Our goal is to provide every renter a completely free move whenever we can. We move everything an average apartment contains and, most importantly, we have the most inclusive free move offer in the industry; guaranteed! How can we do this? UMoveFree is by far the largest and most popular apartment finding service in Texas. We dwarf our nearest competitors. By leveraging our volume we are able to offer the best deal around. We include the highest number of boxes and include more "no charge" items than any of our smaller competitors. Even if you have a few items that fall outside our Free Move Offer, you can pay a small fee for the overages or just move those items yourself. See our Free Move Offer for full details on what is included.

How will you share apartment information with me?

We can share apartment information by phone or by email.

How can I communicate with my UMoveFree apartment agent?

You can communicate with your agent by phone, text or email depending on your preferences.

Are there apartments within walking distance of campus?

Since we do not own or operate the apartments near UTA, we cannot guarantee that all properties on the list are within walking distance, but we can put that criteria into our search to better help you find an apartment that meets your needs. We can also look for properties that are near bus stops that go to campus as well.

Applying for an Apartment

What information do I need to lease an apartment?

When you find an apartment you want to lease you will need to complete a rental application. Every community has a different rental application and we can help you with this process. You will need photo identification (i.e. your passport) and some apartments may require that you provide a copy of your UTA enrollment documentation. You will also need to pay an application fee.

How much money do I need to lease an apartment?

To apply you simply need to complete the application paperwork and pay your application fee. Application fees vary but typically run between $35 and $50 per roommate. To reserve an apartment you will also need to pay the deposit and some apartments also require an administration fee. These fees range from $300 to $700 depending on the apartment. Lastly, when you move in you will have to pay the remainder of your first month's rent. Remember, UMoveFree agents are apartment experts and we can help you navigate this entire process.

Do you control the apartments pricing, application and screening criteria?

No. We do not own or manage the apartments that we will share with you. All off-campus apartments near UTA are independently owned and managed. They all have their own policies and procedures when it comes to leasing apartments to UTA students and we have no control over those policies. However, we do maintain a comprehensive database of every off-campus apartment and we call these apartments daily to keep accurate information on pricing, move in specials and availability. UTA has asked us to share this information with students seeking off-campus apartments and we can help you with the process.

Roommate Information

Can I share my off-campus apartment with roommates?

Yes. Keep in mind that each roommate living in the apartment will need to complete a separate rental application and pay a separate application fee. Also, we do not provide a roommate matching service so you will have to find a roommate on your own. We encourage you to contact your university student society as they may be able to assist you with finding a suitable roommate.

Can UMoveFree or UTA help me find a roommate for my off-campus apartment?

No. Neither UMoveFree nor UTA currently help students locate roommates for off-campus apartments. Finding a roommate is a personal endeavor and will require you to network amongst your friends and fellow students. We encourage you to contact your university student society as they may be able to assist you with finding a suitable roommate as well.

What if I want a roommate but don't have one yet?

If you want a roommate but haven't found one yet you have two options. Your first option is to start by looking for a one bedroom apartment and lease an apartment that you can afford on your own. You can always bring in a roommate at a later point in time. However, if you would rather wait to lease an apartment until after you have found a roommate simply let your UMoveFree agent know and we can put your apartment search on hold. Your agent will follow up with you every so often to see how your roommate searches progresses.
