Addicks Park Ten Information
Are you looking for an apartment in the Addicks or Park Ten area of Houston?
Addicks is an area of Houston that was formerly its own town. The area was named after Henry Addicks, the original postmaster. After having to relocate the town closer to the intersection of Interstate 10 and Highway 6 to make room for the Addicks Reservoir, Houston eventually annexed the community.
School-aged residents living in the Addicks neighborhood are served by one elementary school (Wolfe), two junior high schools (Mayde Creek and Memorial Parkway), and two high schools (Mayde Creek and James E. Taylor). These schools are operated by the Katy independent School District. Residents of the Addicks also enjoy the use of three city-funded parks. Terry Hershey Park runs parallel to Buffalo Bayou and maintains several biking trails for residents' use. Bear Creek Park is over 2,000 acres and has several unique features including an equestrian trail, small zoo, horseshoe courts, and a duck pond. George Bush Park, formerly known as Cullen-Barker Park, hosts numerous pavilions, playgrounds, a large soccer field and a shooting range.
The Park Ten neighborhood is a master-planned mixed-use community that comprises a large portion of the business activity in West Houston. Due to its closeness to the Energy Corridor, many young professionals choose the Park Ten area as their new home.
