Houston Heights is one of the oldest planned communities in the Houston area and as such it has some unique designs and styles that you rarely find in other neighborhoods. The community entered the original development stages in the late 1800s when a group of investors purchased the land that is now Houston Heights. As Houston itself began to grow Houston Heights began to attract well off individuals that could afford to live outside of the city; much of that theme has stuck with the community today as it is obviously still a very popular suburban city.
Ever since the 1990s Houston Heights has been undergoing a complete transformation from what it had become. During the mid 1900s much of Houston Heights was abandoned and old so the city itself was basically unable to draw more residents to the area; thanks to the Houston Heights Association the city is now in much better condition and is generally considered a great place to live. Thanks to the location of Houston Heights it is quite convenient to live in the area; downtown Houston is only about 4 miles away from Houston Heights and because of this there are obviously dozens of restaurants, shops, and other entertainment options available within a short walking distance.
As with most cities Houston Heights has multiple schools and libraries to keep residents and their children happy and entertained. There are also multiple parks throughout Houston Heights and of course there are dozens more scattered through the surrounding areas of Houston. Overall Houston Heights is a popular neighborhood with plenty of history and back story that you simply do not find in many residential parts of Houston. There are plenty of properties available all the time so finding something that you like and can afford in Houston definitely shouldn't be difficult. Of course thanks to the location it is incredibly easy to commute to work on a daily basis as well; many people find that, depending on where they work, it is entirely possible to walk to and from work every day rather than driving or riding on the public transit system. For a downtown neighborhood Houston Heights is really quite refined and well received so if you want to live close to downtown then you should definitely take a look at the Houston Heights neighborhood to see if it has what you want in a home.
