Montgomery, TX is one of the oldest towns in Texas. The small town offers residents the ease of small-town life with easy access to the nearby cities of Conroe and Houston. With a historic downtown area that attracts visitors from near and far, Montgomery has many retail and antique shops, restaurants, and other local attractions for residents. Montgomery is situated near the southwestern border of the Sam Houston National Forest in Montgomery County, TX. Montgomery residents attend schools administrated by the Montgomery Independent School District. MISD offers four elementary schools, one intermediate school, one junior high school, and one high school.

Montgomery is proud to have contributed a key piece of Texas history: the Texas flag. A Montgomery Postmaster and pharmacist was the visionary behind the Lone Star Flag of Texas. This resident, Dr. Charles Stewart, eventually became the first Secretary of State for the Republic of Texas.
